First Thanksgiving

My husband-elect and I just bought about $256 worth of groceries and sundries for our (and my) first Thanksgiving. We have Turkey and ALL the fixings, and will have two friends over at our togetherment ('apart'-ment just sounds wrong), and maybe others who will drift through during the day.

But now I have to cook all this shit. And I've never roasted a turkey before! Though I have roasted chickens, and I hear that it's the same thing. And, ironically, easier.

Yikes. People will be coming over expecting a good meal! Ack. I've never used this little teeny oven to cook much of anything, much less a big bird. And all the over-the-top gay trimmings :-)

Eek. What have I done? I hope I can pull this off!

They will enjoy the food, but they're coming by to give thanks for you and J.

Wish I could come by and give thanks to you personally, but I'll do it from here.

Thank you.

Of course it will be wonderful! You are a terrific cook and a smart guy who can follow recipes. All will be well.

No stress, love :-) For one, I'm here to help. For another, we could just as easily have bologna sandwiches if things go awry... which I find highly unlikely. Having had the good fortune of your cooking for me more than once; (in your teeny toaster oven that you had to mash the chicken into to make it fit; the lopsided oven at the Monte Sano cabin with all the settings worn off the knobs so you had to GUESS); every single thing you've cooked for me has been delectable, my dear... even things like salmon that I figured I'd have to be polite & pretend to like. :-) Having witnessed your cooking prowess in much more adverse conditions than these, Thanksgiving dinner is going to be a downstream fun fest.

I'm going to make sure of it :-)

Turkeys sound intimidating but they are rather simple. The internet is full of simple advice

Good luck !
