RadioLab Monday

I confess! I'm a tunes junkie, an iTunes whore!

I drove to Beavercreek, Ohio on Friday (and back last night) for a shamanic workshop that is a prerequisite to the two-week intensive I'll be doing in September. For Christmas Zootsie had given me a small inverter, a device that plugs into a DC power source and produces 110v, 60Hz power suitable for small appliances like a laptop. I'm also borrowing my ex's Macbook Pro which he has no need of at the moment, so in preparation for my trip I went hunting for podcasts to stuff my iTunes cheeks with.

And found WNYC.org and its utterly fabulous offering, Radio Lab.

Run, do not walk, to www.wnyc.org and get the Radio Lab podcasts. (It's easy: in iTunes go to the iTunes store, find RadioLab and then subscribe, downloading the ones you want. Or all of them, like I did.) I listened to 14+ hour's worth of these things during the round trip drive, and was still idling in the driveway when I got back after midnight last night, rapt, so that I could finish the one I was on. And I have several more waiting for me today. If I can squeeze them in between, ugh, "work".

Every one of these podcasts is thought-provoking and most are chock-full of references, interviews with intriguing people, and things that make you think. Hard. And long.

Hosted by two Oberlin alumni of different generations, this show to me showcases to a "T" how Obies are taught to think, how they defy boundaries and ruthlessly and relentlessly explore ideas and topics. I love it!

And you will, too.

Here's a link to one of my favorites, "Emergence" in RSS feed format and in MP3 format if you want to do it that way.

Addendum:
This seen at exit 53 in Kentucky :-) I've always wanted to go ...
