Mini retreat

I am renting a cabin with friends at a state park on a local mountain. My schedule (with a little help, admittedly) has cleared itself for tomorrow and once I finish for the day the only obligations I have for the weekend are Sunday afternoon and evening.

I am very much looking forward to relaxing with friends, having no schedule, building a fire, drinking some wine, laughing, cooking, eating, and having a good time together.

Our cabin has a concrete slab firepit and also an indoor fireplace, so there will be no shortage of transformative fire, which warms this little pyro's heart no end. And since we just had gulley-washing rain last night, no fear of burning down the forest, either.

This is the kind of getaway I was hoping for over Solstice that did not materialize, and I'm relieved that it's happening now. I honestly can't wait.

Good for you! Have a wonderful pyro-wino-weekend-retreat! (I love the fire elemental myself... but then, all the elementals are pretty amazing.) There was a fantastic fiery sunset tonight, worthy of a National Geograpic cover.

My boss & best friend had eye surgery today & I'm playing the role of caregiver this weekend. Nothing major... ice packs, eye ointment & occasional pain pills. I'll check on him in a bit & see if he's up to eating some soup. But hey, it's time with my pal & I enjoy giving something back to someone who's given me so much. So I'll be having a good weekend retreat of my own. Being a healer is part of what seems to be my path.

How does that saying go? "The healer & the healed become the healing." One can't exist without the other... & it's healing for both.

I love how things connect that way.

Have a great time reconnecting & enjoy the belated solstice!

Glegoly, OneTree,

Thanks for the send-off! Funny, but I'm just going about 4 miles from my own home, but the vista is so different, and the setting rustic and peaceful. A lot of my clients are sick and cancelling, and I just said, "why not?" so we're having Festivus On The Mountain. G, hope your sis and brother-in-law will come join tomorrow night ... they've been invited and know the way.

Cheers, gents!
