Mysteries unfold

Orion perpetually seeking his love, Eos, Goddess of the Dawn, approx 16in x 24in.

A Native American shamaness/medicine woman (?) with sacred pipe and colors of the four directions, approx. 8in x 12in.

Celtic horse, approx. 9in x 4in.

I was pretty stunned when I saw these drawings for the first time yesterday. My friend, Chris, took me there: the "frescoes" are in a little hidden cave just below one of the main trails at a nearby state park where I live. You won't see them if you're just walking casually by; you have to climb up in the little cave-like area and lie on your back to see them. Obviously done over a long period of time and with great care, both from an artistic perspective, and of one of content. These are but three of many, the biggest of which is a Celtic scene not reproduced here, mainly because it contains such powerful personal imagery to me; it feels like it doesn't want to be shown at this time.

Almost all of the paintings are of things dear to me, images that have deep and powerful meaning to me and I was just blown away when I saw them. The pictures are truly made for me, almost as if someone took my journeys right out of my head, right out of my journal and painted them there. I came back today to take these pictures and to do a brief, powerful journey inside the rocks while bathing in the rays of the setting sun as it shone into the opening. I'll be spending much time here in the near and far future, maybe even spending an illicit night or two there to journey and think and just be. How amazing! A little hidden holy shrine. I wonder what new hidden gifts this place has to offer?
