Green and watery am I,
Fragrant Earth, Air and flinty Stone.
Fire, too, though just a little.
I photosynthesize, I dream limestone dreams
And sussurate the hushing language of trees;
I galvanize, magnetize, harmonize, shamanize
the energies of Earth and Man,
the Little Lives that add up to the Big Life.
Tuned, I vibrate the unseen into being,
Suck out the impure,
Polish the house of a soul until it's light shines pure and bright,
arrowing to infinity.
Cloaked in a small form I am a Giant, a Dragon,
wielding the energies of stars,
hands firm and sure, guided with purpose and love.
I stroke each Life, watching it quiver and tumesce
until I know what it loves most, then give it
that,
that,
that,
and oh! so much more of that
until in glorious eruption
it discovers that it was always infinite after all,
never confined and small.
I ride the drum to amazing places of Pleasure, Light and Sense,
utterly foreign and deeply familiar.
This me I always knew, yet wanted to un-know.
Lists I needed! Facts! Details.
Yet Life called, strong and sure, spirits from all quarters
patiently ringing my bell.
I cracked open the door to see who was there
and in they marched, my true soulmates, loving me!
In the nick of time.
Living the wildness of their kind of life is so easy!
Conforming to the Dead World was so hard.
I shapeshift.
My soul unfurls and blows across the sky
while my body, camouflaged, looks like all others.
My melody awakens the Healing Life Music long asleep in my brothers;
I am the catalytic surface on which the reactions of their lives accelerate.
For this was I born.
For this will I live.
This poem is an assignment for the gay men's shamanic weekend that I'm going to next week. It may be refined as the week rolls along.
